GPW's version of Wrestlemania was truly a sight to behold as Global Pro Wrestling's biggest superstars showcase their talents and make history. Here's what went down:
Kavan def SIN & Niphiro in Main Event | Castro Cashes in Golden Briefcase
In the main event of our 1st ever Gods of the Arena event, we witness Kavan do the unthinkable by getting the win over both Niphiro & the undefeated GPW world champion, SIN in a triple threat match, thus capturing the world title for his first time ever. However, King Castro was lurking in the shadows, ready to spoil the party. During Kavan's post-match celebration, Castro's music hit and the a chorus of boo's rang throughout the stadium. Castro then jumps Kavan from behind, attacking him with the Golden Briefcase (MITB) that he won all the way back in August of 2022. After this sneak attack, Castro cashed in the briefcase and the ref rang the bell. Being that Kavan just wen through a nearly 40 minute match with 2 tough opponents, there wasn't anything left in the tank to fight back, causing Castro to defeat him and winning his GPW world championship.,
Dynamite Kids Dethrone the SINdicate
Wyld Kidd and Dynamike join forces once again as the Dynamite Kids, (their legendary tag team that put both athletes on the map) to take 2/3 of the most fearsome faction in GPW, the SINdicate. Van Pierre & Dread (SINdicate) made their debut back at October, captured the tag titles in November, and haven't lost a match since. After a long-hard battle between the two teams, it was the Dynamite Kids who came out on top, hitting Van Pierre with their signature "1260" tag team finishing move and in turn became the GPW Tag Team Champions for the 1st time ever.
The Reign of Payne Begins
It was a night of many firsts at the first ever GODS OF THE ARENA. Not only did Emperor Payne capture the GPW INFERNO Championship, he did it by beating Shannon Style, Maverick and D'von Divine in a new match type, a 2 out of 3 falls Fatal-4-Way Match. Everyone ended up scoring 1 fall in the match, essentially causing a 4-way tie towards the end of the match, but it was Emperor Payne who got the 2nd and final fall to score him the win.
Ryan Lyons Wins Triple Threat Title
The Triple Threat Title is a match-specific championship exclusive here at GPW. It can only be won-defended in triple threat style matches. The champion also doesn't have to technically get pinned or submitted to lose said title, making it one of the most difficult championships to hold on to. King Castro walked in as the champion of this match against rivals Roscoe Jones and Ryan Lyons, but it would be Lyons who walked away with the gold, winning his first singles title in GPW.
New Hardcore Champion!?
Besides the crazy twist-ending to this show's main event, this match might've been the one that shocked most of the audience. The only GPW Hardcore Champ in history, Dangerous Dan Slater looked to defend that title once again, this time against the man from Yamagucci Japan, The Great Hosoqai. It was a hard fought battle full of weapons and carnage and it looked to be anyone's game. Unfortunately for Slater, Hosoqai reached into his bag of tricks by hitting him in the eyes with poison mist, causing Slater to go temporarily blind. It allowed just enough time for Hosoqai to deliver a tremendous Hosoqai Spike, solidifying his victory and becoming the 2nd ever GPW Hardcore champion, ending Slater historic reign Champion.
+ so much more!
